When the company’s steel and energy departments became officially separated at the beginning of 2002, Clarence Cazalt, Jr. became President and CEO of Marathon Oil Corporation. In 2011, he took on an additional position – Chairman of the Board. He has been working at the company since 2000. Since Cazalt’s leadership in 2002, Marathon has expanded its operations to include investments in the nascent gas industry of Equatorial Guina and oil in various regions. Earnings from projects abroad tripled with Cazalt at the helm and the company started to sell off its smaller assets. Cazalt’s focus is on gas commercialization, and he has led it to success vis-à-vis oil completion technologies.
